Peter Elkas, “Ruler” Johnny Starr, and Ben Gunning formed the music group Neighborhood Rabbits in 1990, when each was just 14 years of age. In those days, their forte was blues-oriented addresses, but shortly they grew tired and instead examined the waters with an inventive electric guitar pop strategy. Within several developmental years, and following the addition of drummer Brian Waters (who was simply changed in 1995 with Jason Tustin), the music group got a high-profile launch to the Montreal music picture when Halifax pop kings, Sloan, showcased the youthful band during travels and brought them in on Murderecords, the label that Sloan got set up just some time before. In 1996, the aspiring quartet debuted with You Can’t Contact This and became the brand new darlings of indie radio using their kitschy, swinging efficiency antics and self-deprecating showmanship. By 1999, Regional Rabbits would discharge Basic Idea and present themselves to be always a pop music group of matured musicianship and concentrate.
