L.A. Boppers

Augie Johnson, an associate of SIDE-EFFECT, formed the Boppers in LA, California, in the mid-’70s to back again his stylish, knickers-wearing group who had inked with Illusion Information. The Boppers, comprising Robert Griffin, Kenny Davis, Ed Riddick, Ed Luna, and Vance Tenort cut their very own Fantasy record entitled The Boppers in 1978. However, neither it nor one releases “Everybody Really wants to be a Superstar” and “Something Missing” had been successful. They turned to Mercury Information in 1980 and became the L.A. Boppers. The lineup also experienced some tinkering and today contains Tenort (lead), Gerry Davis, Riddick, Kenny Designs, Michael Stanton, Stan Martin, with Augie Johnson (on mortgage from SIDE-EFFECT) also adding to their sound. The L.A. Boppers (with insight from Mikki Howard) slipped on Mercury in 1980; the first solo “Is certainly This the Defeat (Bop-Doo-Wah)” produced the R&B Best 30 and be their most well-known single ever. Following produces, the jazzy “Viewing Lifestyle” and “Be-Bop Dancer,” didn’t catch the same market. Your final Mercury record Bop Period (1981) highlighted an update from the Delfonic’s “La, La Means I REALLY LIKE You.” Your final record on MCA Information Make Mine Bop in 1982 spawned two poor offering singles: “Where Perform the Bops Move” b/w “DESERVED AND NEEDED Relax,” and “How Solid Love COULD BE” b/w “Puppy Home.” Disenchanted, they disbanded after MCA failing. Soul/funk/jazz fans world-wide right now trumpet their unheralded recording slashes including “Provide Me Some” and “Funk It Out.”
