Knockout Drops

The foundation of gritty alt-pop combo Knockout Drops could be traced to Long Isle, NY, where Chris Campion (vocals), Tom Licameli (guitar), and Phil Mastrangelo (bass) first bonded more than a shared love of influences. Shifting their bottom of functions to NEW YORK, the trio obtained drummer Vinny Cimino and started playing out at region clubs, creating a following using their off-kilter stage action. A self-released work entitled The Burning up Bush Chronicles impressed manufacturer Joe Blaney, who’d proved helpful before using the Clash and Spirit Asylum. Blaney decided to helm the Drops’ following project, which ended up being the 1997 EP Currently. It appeared like the music group was on the move, until assorted music-industry head aches derailed their momentum for a couple of years. Undaunted, the Knockout Drops came back using a vengeance in 2002, taking on residence on the N.Con.C. dive Siberia, where they hashed out brand-new materials and presided more than a coterie of night-owl music artists and performers. A year afterwards the Knockout Drops changed this experience to their debut full-length, Killed with the Lighting, which slipped on Circus Clone, the label operate by Campion’s sibling, Billy, aka Vic Thrill.
