Kid Wave

London-based indie quartet Kid Wave began in 2013 as the project of Swedish singer/songwriter Lea Emmery. After departing her hometown of Norrköping, Sweden in 2011, Emmery spent her 1st year or two in the U.K. honing her lush, summery, shoegaze-influenced audio and releasing a small number of early songs on her behalf Bandcamp page beneath the Child Wave banner. Gradually she started assembling an effective band, 1st enlisting older friend and fellow Swedish expat Mattias Bhatt on acoustic guitar. Australian transplant Serra Petale was teaching drums at the same music college where Emmery analyzed, and eventually English bassist Harry Deacon became a member of to circular out this internationally varied group. They authorized with important London indie Heavenly Recordings, which released their debut EP, Gloom, in 2014. Components of harmonic power pop, ’90s-influenced indie, and melodic shoegaze peppered the four-song EP, that was adopted a year later on from the band’s full-length debut, Wonderlust. In 2016, Emmery relocated towards the U.S., getting a fresh batch of tunes to LA, where she started working with regional musicians on the revamped edition of Child Wave. Debuting a fresh single, “Everything Adjustments,” in Feb 2017, Child Influx spent the springtime touring the U.S. using the Shins.
