Karl Denton

The influence of American country music spread to Scotland through the songs of Glasgow-born Karl Denton (born Angus Murdo McKenzie). Best-remembered for his yodeling capabilities, Denton reached his maximum in the first ’60s when his rendition from the South African tune “Wimoweh,” made by Jack port Good, became a high 20 British strike. As the tune designated his last graph entry, Denton continuing to create his presence experienced on Scotland and north England’s cabaret circuit. His group, the Karl Denton Trio, continuing to feature primary associates Kevin McNeill and Gary Cottrell before past due ’70s, when Cottrell was changed by Keith Elliott. Denton arrived of semi-retirement to execute with Manchester, England-based music group Content Mondays in 1989. Denton preserved a lifelong appreciate of American nation music. After portion in the Product owner Navy, he briefly resided in Nashville until getting deported as an “unlawful alien” in 1959.
