Kansas City Six

If they had period faraway from the Count number Basie Orchestra in the later 1930s, the Count’s tempo musicians formed a little ensemble called the Kansas City Five. So when renowned tenor saxophonist Lester Teen joined the music group, it became the Kansas Town Six. Commodore Information creator Milt Gabler understood a stripped-down, simple documenting of such good music artists as trumpeter Expenses Coleman, trombonist Dicky Wells and drummer Jo Jones could create such powerful music as “Three Small Phrases,” “Jo-Jo” and “Method Down Yonder in New Orleans.”
