Jim Galloway

An excellent golf swing soprano player having a lighter shade than Sidney Bechet, Jim Galloway has made many recordings with like-minded veterans. He performed locally in Scotland on clarinet and alto before emigrating to Canada in 1965. He quickly started specializing on soprano, led the Metro Stompers (1968), come up with the Wee Big Music group (1978), and hosted the every week jazz radio system Toronto Alive! (1981-1987). Galloway, that has made an appearance at many jazz celebrations and jazz celebrations, has documented for Sackville, Hep, and Music & Arts alongside several smaller sized Canadian brands with such pianists as Dick Wellstood, Artwork Hodes, & most frequently with Jay McShann.
