Something of the same Halifax, Nova Scotia musical community which spawned Sloan and Eric’s Trip, the dazzling indie-pop music group Jale shaped in Apr 1992 while its users were attending art college. Dubbing themselves Jale as an acronym from the 1st titles of guitarist Jennifer Pierce, drummer Alyson MacLeod, bassist Laura Stein and guitarist Eve Hartling (most of whom distributed vocal and songwriting tasks), the group lent their devices from close friends and performed their 1st show significantly less than five weeks after developing. Soon they released their debut solitary “Aunt Betty,” accompanied by an appearance around the Sub Pop label’s dual seven-inch Halifax sampler By no means Brain the Molluscs.
