Heritage Blues Orchestra

Accurate to the heritage a part of its name, the brand new York City-based History Blues Orchestra sticks mainly to traditional blues materials, but bolstered by a fresh Orleans-like horn section and an excellent dose of both jazz and gospel sensibilities, the group has discovered ways to help to make that traditional materials sound new and fresh. The core from the band may be the trio of Junior Mack (acoustic guitar), Expenses Sims Jr. (acoustic guitar), and Sims’ child Chaney Sims, all three of whom talk about vocals. The “orchestra” area of the group includes Vincent Bucher (harmonica), Kenny Smith (drums), and a horn portion of Bruno Wilhelm (tenor saxophone), Kenny Rampton (trumpet), Steve Wiseman (trumpet), and Clark Gayton (trombone, tuba, and sousaphone). Authorized to Raisin Music, the music group released its debut recording, BUT STILL I Rise, in Feb of 2012.
