Harold Lang

b. Harold Richard Lang, 21 Dec 1920, Daly Town, California, USA, d. 26 July 1985, Chico, California, USA. A classically educated dancer, Lang performed using the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo and with the American Ballet Theater. He started a parallel profession dancing within the chorus of musical comedies, occasionally on Broadway. Among displays from the 40s where he made an appearance are Mr. Strauss WOULD GO TO Boston (1945), Three TO CREATE Ready (1946), Appear Ma, I’m Dancin’ (1948) and Kiss Me, Kate (1948). It had been this Cole Porter display, where as Costs Calhoun he sang ‘Bianca’, that produced Lang’s name. Within the 50s he was in CREATE A Desire (1951), was the business lead within a revival of Pal Joey (1952), also executing within the London creation, Shangri-La (1956), Ziegfeld Follies (1957), along with a revival of OUT (1959). Within the 60s he performed Teddy in I COULD HAVE IT For You Low cost (1962) but parts had been fewer. In 1970 Lang transferred to California where he became a member of the faculty at California Condition School in Chico being a dance teacher, staying there until his loss of life.
