Vocalist Gretchen Parlato is really a forward-thinking jazz singer with an emotive, languid design along with a bent toward combining various musical affects into a contemporary creative jazz cosmetic. A California indigenous, Parlato was raised listening to a number of musical styles before concentrating on jazz. In 2001, Parlato became the very first vocalist ever accepted in to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Efficiency.
