Gretchen Parlato

Vocalist Gretchen Parlato is really a forward-thinking jazz singer with an emotive, languid design along with a bent toward combining various musical affects into a contemporary creative jazz cosmetic. A California indigenous, Parlato was raised listening to a number of musical styles before concentrating on jazz. In 2001, Parlato became the very first vocalist ever accepted in to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Efficiency. Three years later on, she earned first place within the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition. In 2013, Parlato released the concert recording Reside in NYC, which presented her carrying out at NY City’s Rockwood Hall in 2012.
