Great Cynics

Originally the solo project of Giles Bidder — who had previously played within a Brighton, U.K.-structured ska act, but had made a decision to concentrate on his very own songwriting — the singer/songwriter began to perform beneath the moniker Cynics, playing his initial shows in July 2009 as support for Dutch artist Tim Vantol. By Dec, Bidder had released his first recordings, a divide cassette with U.K. punkers WEGROWBEARDS, implemented up half a year later along with his debut one, “Rocks I’ve Thrown.” Shifting to London, Bidder continuing to play displays throughout the capitol and over the U.K., learning to be a regular encounter in the burgeoning D.We.Y. punk picture along with his rousing, folk-infused punk, while also gaining himself support slot machine games with famous brands Against Me! and Color It Dark. Bidder wrote an album’s well worth of materials by 2011 and came into the studio room with Peter Kilometers (We Will be the Sea, the Ruler Blues) to create about recording. Determining the material works better having a music group behind him, Bidder recruited drummer Bob Barrett, while bass responsibilities were dealt with by Kilometers and Iona Cairns. With Cairns and Barrett getting full-time members as well as the trio going to launch their debut recording, the Pittsburgh-based garage-rock clothing the Cynics intervened, requesting them to look at a fresh name. The group became Great Cynics and their debut, Don’t Want Much, fallen in middle-2011 on Home Name and Similar to Information. Spending their period touring over the U.K. and helping famous brands Crazy Arm, Spraynard, and We Will be the Sea, the trio also released the In the Valley EP at the start of 2012. Time for the studio, once more with Peter Kilometers, the music group documented their sophomore recording, Like I Belong. Released in 2013, the group once more headed from tour to get the recording while also making themselves slots in the exclusive Reading and Leeds Celebrations. 2015 noticed the trio indication to Specialist Subject matter and Lame-O for his or her third album, PERSONALLY I THINK Weird, which once more saw them synergy with Peter Kilometers. That same yr, the trio going to Australia to tour using the Smith Road Music group, while also helping famous brands the Sidekicks and Tigers Jaw. With Cairns splitting her time taken between her own task, Shit Present, and Great Cynics, the group reconvened in 2016 to record their 4th album. Recording on the Headroom in Philadelphia with Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Joyce Manor) and Ian Farmer (Contemporary Football), the causing POSI premiered on Specialist Subject matter and Lame-O at the start of 2017.
