Shaped by guitarist David Top and synth player Steve Lewis, Fujiya & Miyagi are deeply indebted both to vintage ’70s Krautrock as well as the ’90s rings which were themselves affected by famous brands Neu! and Kraftwerk, from Stereolab and Broadcast to Aphex Twin as well as the Orb. The group were only available in the seaside town of Brighton, Britain in 1999, when Greatest and Lewis 1st met inside a pickup soccer game. Acquiring their name randomly from Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Child and a make of stereo system equipment, they documented their first recording, Electro Karaoke in the Bad Style, like a duo, liberating it within the Tirk Information label in 2003. In planning for touring behind the recording, Greatest and Lewis shaped a full-band iteration of Fujiya & Miyagi, including bassist Grunder and drummer Matthew Avery. When documenting sessions began for the band’s second recording, Greatest and Lewis experienced the four-piece lineup didn’t function in the studio room and reverted briefly to a duo before adding Matt Hainsby on bass and extra keyboards. Therefore constituted, Fujiya & Miyagi finished their second recording, Transparent Things, that was released in the springtime of 2006. The band’s third studio room LP, Lightbulbs, found its way to 2008 and presented fresh drummer Lee Adams, while 2011’s Ventriloquizzing discovered the group discovering its darkest surfaces yet by using maker/engineer Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Devendra Banhart). Adams departed before their following recording, 2014’s stripped-down and upbeat Artificial Sweeteners. Fujiya & Miyagi’s lineup transformed once again before they going to the studio room for 2016’s EP1, with Hainsby departing and bass participant Ben Adamo and drummer Ed Chivers arriving up to speed. The EP was implemented afterwards the same calendar year by EP2 and, on Apr 7, 2017, EP3. The last mentioned shared a discharge date using the group’s 6th long-player, titled basically Fujiya & Miyagi, which mixed the three EPs to expose an 11-monitor album.
