Chicago’s goofy, funky electronic duo Emperor Penguin includes DJ Lazlo Minimart and keyboardist Melvoin Stanke. Their like of classic analogue synths, discovered noises and electro-funk culminated within the release of the debut record Shatter the Illusion of Integrity, Yeah in early 1999 on MY MATE God Information. Emperor Penguin squandered virtually no time in pursuing up the record using a limited-edition one on Box Stock, E.D.G.A.R., and their second full-length Intensive Gaming just a couple months afterwards. Their third record Inexplicable Pony, the name which was chose by voters on the label’s website, appeared early another year. Their speedy pace demonstrated no signals of abating; they started 2001 using the four-song Damn EP, which highlighted the Emperor Penguin Live Expedition Squadron (bassist/guitarist Jack port Flapjack, keyboardist Nord 2000 and drummer Ferrari) on two monitors.
