Mulemena was among Zambia’s most popular music artists in the ’70s, thanks partly to the actual fact that he sang in three dialects — Kaonde, Bemba and Nyanja. He was also among the initial African music artists to employ a drum machine, and he’s renowned for modernizing the Kaonde “machancha” defeat. Mulemena’s premature loss of life was rumored to become of AIDS, producing him among the early casualties within an epidemic which has decimated Zambia’s human population. His music group, the Mulemena Kids, carried on for a while until among the additional members also passed away. A different band of music artists now performs beneath the name the Junior Mulemena Kids.
