Duo Crommelynck

Belgian pianist Patrick Crommelynck (given birth to 1947) co-founded Duo Crommelynck along with his Tokyo-born wife Taeko Kuwata (given birth to 1945) in the 1970s. That they had a splendid switch like a piano duo, carving out a good reputation throughout a period when competition among piano duos was hard in Europe, provided the recognition of such high-profile works as the Pekinels as well as the Laboratoryèques. The Duo Crommelynck documented many CDs, all for the Swiss Claves label, and their three-disc group of the four-hand functions of Schubert earned a Grand Prix du Disque through the Academie du Charles Cros. The senseless dual suicide that stated the set in July 1994 was a tragedy which has few, if any, parallels in the annals of traditional music.
