In the first ’80s, drummer Philly Joe Jones, using the strong assistance of trumpeter Donald Sickler (who transcribed the arrangements), revived the music of Tadd Dameron inside a non-et called Dameronia. Two Uptown information resulted (with such sidemen as Walter Davis, Jr., Britt Woodman, Frank Wess, and Cecil Payne) just before Jones’ 1985 loss of life. In 1989, Sickler collected collectively the alumni (with Kenny Washington on drums) for a particular Paris concert which was documented on Spirit Note.
