Corridor

This UK techno band comprised the apparently surname-less Ashley and Chris whose origins lie in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, where in 1982 Chris bought his first synthesizer after seeing a Tangerine Dream gig. Both had been originally within an indie music group the Merkins (the name extracted from a pubic hairpiece utilized by prostitutes who was simply shorn pursuing lice infestation). The name Corridor was extracted from the Sam Fuller film in regards to a mental asylum (Surprise Corridor). As well as close friends Nat and Give they documented a demo that was delivered to Andrew Weatherall at his Sabres Of Heaven label. The second option released Corridor’s debut, ‘Component’, accompanied by ‘X’. The 1st was dreamy, soundscape techno, the next a very much harder regime. Later on Nat and Give took off to become listed on Conemelt, who released their debut EP on Ashley’s New Floor label. Chris and Ashley continuing like a duo, their ‘Two Times’ trim, also on Fresh Ground, offering them with a large club strike in past due 1993. Their hard techno was up to date by their like of the commercial genre – it had been the Sabres remix of Throbbing Gristle’s ‘United’ that originally inspired them to get hold of Weatherall.
