Chuck Peterson

Chuck Peterson can be an obscure trumpeter in the swing era who was simply most notable to be the trumpeter trading off with Ziggy Elman on Tommy Dorsey’s famous 1942 record “Good Git It all.” After playing French horn and trombone while in senior high school, Peterson turned to trumpet. He worked well locally, is at Hank Biagini’s music group and was area of the Artie Shaw Orchestra (1937-39), where he sometimes soloed. Peterson was using the orchestras of Tony Pastor, Tommy Dorsey (on / off during 1939-42) and Woody Herman. After providing in the armed service, Peterson resolved in his indigenous Detroit. Although he documented with Woody Herman’s First Herd in 1946 and Benny Carter in 1949, Peterson (who by no means led his personal record day) preferred to truly have a protected life in the home and he’s largely overlooked today.
