Christina Vantzou

Christina Vantzou is a composer and multi-media designer who creates long, slow-moving ambient soundscapes that mix consumer electronics and sampled components with orchestral plans. Created in Kansas Town, Vantzou studied in the Maryland Institute University of Artwork in Baltimore and relocated to Brussels, Belgium in 2003. She in the beginning produced her name like a video designer, creating animations for MTV Netherlands and a music video for Interpol. Her video clips caught the interest of Stars from the Lid’s Adam Wiltzie, and both created an audio-visual cooperation called the Deceased Texan. Vantzou added vocals and mellotron towards the project’s 2004 self-titled discharge, and she also produced the movies included on the album’s associated Dvd movie. She performed keyboards through the band’s concerts, plus they opened up for Sparklehorse during a few of their Western european tour schedules in 2007. Vantzou credits Sparklehorse’s Tag Linkous for motivating her to make solo function. She spent years tinkering with MIDI keyboards and examples, eventually writing a demonstration of her music with composer Dustin O’Halloran, who aimed her to Minna Choi of Magik*Magik Orchestra, and both started orchestrating the materials that Vantzou acquired constructed. Following appearance of Vantzou’s structure “11 Years of My Fathers” on Ghostly International’s early 2011 compilation SMM: Framework, her symphonic debut single record No. 1 made an appearance on Kranky in Oct of that calendar year, accompanied by a Dvd movie of abstract movies predicated on the album’s parts, and a remix record including efforts by Loscil, ISAN, Koen Holtkamp, among others. She performed concerts using a string quartet and constructed her second record, furthermore to working being a mathematics teacher. No. 2, an expansion of the audio of her debut, appeared on Kranky in early 2014, and was accompanied by an EP of remixes by Movement Sickness of your time Travel, Ken Camden, among others. No. 3, a somewhat more structured record than her prior two, premiered by Kranky in Oct of 2015.
