The CDs initial created a hype using the single “Property from the Shed” which originally appeared on Nudder Budders, a Loud Information sampler in 1994. The duo was originally regarded as an integral part of the burgeoning middle-’90s horrorcore sound popularized by groupings just like the Gravediggaz. Nevertheless, the horrorcore-esque “Property from the Shed” was simply the tip from the iceberg for the Flatbush, Brooklyn, duo. In early 1996, Ug and Phantasm slipped their debut LP Realms N’ Truth, a swooping phantasmagoric record that wove hardcore NY hip-hop seamlessly using a Sunday morning experience cartoon-feel. The CDs’ design combines Dungeons and Dragons-style role-playing video games, horror flicks, slick, tough beats, and imaginative, frequently funny lyrics. Realms and Truth was a thrilling and bizarre trip through two warped intellects.
