Calvin Jackson

A concert designer with spectacular technique and a solid desire for jazz, Calvin Jackson was at his most popular through the 1950s. His mom was a traditional singer. Jackson analyzed piano for 17 years including four years at Juilliard and NY University. He previously an early work with Frankie Fairfax’s music group and spent 1943-1947 in Hollywood operating as an associate musical movie director at MGM. He documented with Phil Moore’s group in 1947 and in addition cut six options for Finding as piano solos, his 1st recording session like a innovator. In 1948, Jackson used Mildred Bailey in the Café Culture in NY. In 1950 he resolved in Toronto where he was frequently heard on tv and radio, including by himself shows. Jackson relocated back to LA in 1957 and worked well in the studios composing music for film and Television shows. Furthermore to his Finding recording, Jackson produced information for Vik and Columbia during 1954-1955 (employing a quartet that co-starred vibraphonist Peter Appleyard), Liberty in 1958 (Gershwin music plus “Jazz Variants on Rhapsody in Blue”), Raynote (1959), and a set of final classes for Reprise (1961).
