Buddy Ebsen

b. Christian Rudolph Ebsen, 2 Apr 1908, Belleville, Illinois, USA, d. 6 July 2003, Torrance, California, USA. Ebsen qualified like a dancer along with his dad, then produced a double action along with his sister, Vilma. He made an appearance within the Ziegfeld Follies but in the middle-30s was generally in films, frequently dance. He was in Broadway Melody Of 1936 (1935), Captain January (1936, performing ‘At The Codfish Ball’), Blessed To Dance and Banjo On My Leg (both 1936), Broadway Melody Of 1938 (1937), THE LADY Of The Golden Western world and My Lucky Superstar (both 1938). In 1939 Ebsen was cast because the Tin Man within the Wizard Of Oz. Allergic towards the metallic color found in the make-up, he discontinued the role, that was used by Jack port Haley, although Ebsen sings, uncredited, ‘We’re Off To START TO SEE THE Wizard’. He made an appearance on television within the series Climax! (1957), Maverick and Bonanza (both 1959), Rawhide, Bronco and Gunsmoke (all 1960), 77 Sunset Remove, The Twilight Area, Gunslinger, Have Weapon – Will Travel and Bus Quit (all 1961), Stories Of Wells Fargo (1962), Hawaii Five-O (1971), Alias Smith And Jones (1972), Burke’s Regulation (1994), and the problem comedy King FROM THE Hill (1999). Most crucial had been his leading tasks in Northwest Passing (1958), The Beverly Hillbillies (1962, as Jed Clampett), Barnaby Jones (1973) and Matt Houston (1982). He also made an appearance in television movies like the Andersonville Trial (1970), The Daughters Of Joshua Cabe (1972), Tom Sawyer (1973), Keep Last night Behind (1978), The Come back FROM THE Beverly Hillbillies (1981), Rock Fox (1987), and Functioning Tra$h (1990). He created the 1979 tv film The Heaven Connection. Ebsen’s last big-screen part combined both television series that he was popular, playing Barnaby Jones within the Beverly Hillbillies (1993).
