Brilliant Colors

Brilliant Shades’ gritty indie pop sound, rooted in old-school New Zealand-based indie pop acts just like the Chills as well as the Bats, grew away of lead singer Jess Scott’s bedroom recordings. The group began playing gigs around its indigenous SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 2007 with a genuine lineup that included bassist Michelle Hill and drummer John Garmon. The last mentioned amicably split using the group in early stages, and ex-Carnal Understanding member Diane Anastasio, who’d simply moved to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA for employment at Optimum Rock’n’Roll, was earned as the band’s brand-new drummer. Brilliant Shades’ self-titled debut, a four-track, 7″ EP, premiered on Make-a-Mess Information in early 2009. A 7″ one, “Highly Progressed”/”Takes So Small,” arrived on Captured Paths later that season. The group’s debut full-length record, the appropriately entitled Introducing, premiered on Slumberland Information that fall. After launching two singles and half of a split one this year 2010 (“Under no circumstances Mine”/”Kissing’s Easy” for Slumberland, “Head into the Globe”/”Poor Vibes” for Make-A-Mess Information, and “You Gain” in the one for Slumberland and Hard Love they distributed to Girls Brands), Brilliant Colours released their second recording, Over and over, in the summertime of 2011.
