Binomio de Oro de America

Perhaps one of the most popular groupings within the cumbia-related genre of vallenato, Binomio de Oro de America was formed by Israel Romero and Rafael Orozco in 1976. Pursuing in the footsteps of Jorge Oñate, Colacho Mendoza, among others within the “natural vallenato” motion, Romero and Orozco shaped the group to try out traditional music, but ultimately worked in various other Latin tastes including cumbia. Intimate, sentimental, and effective songs plus a refined live present including matching clothes and choreography hook them up to the street to worldwide stardom. Travels of Venezuela, the Caribbean, and Panama pass on the term, and in 1981 Colombian flags had been hung throughout Madison Square Backyard because the group produced its NEW YORK debut.
