Bert Dahlander

An excellent Swedish drummer who functions successfully as either bop or golf swing player. Dahlander examined violin and piano originally, after that led a quartet and performed within a radio music group going by Thore Ehrling. After documenting with Lars Gullin in 1951 and 1952, Dahlander transferred to America in 1954, getting area of the home music group at Chicago’s Bee Hive. He proved helpful a season with Terry Gibbs, toured European countries with Chet Baker in 1955 and 1956, after that reunited with Gullin, documenting with him in 1956 and ’57. There is another stint with Gibbs, after that he spent 3 years in Teddy Wilson’s trio. Dahlander proved helpful in 1965 with Earl Hines, after that resolved in Aspen in 1966. He performed there with Ralph Sutton and Peanuts Hucko, and participated in a number of Colorado Jazz Party series concerts. Through the ’70s, Dahlander performed frequently in Finland and Sweden, acquiring amount of time in ’73 for the reunion documenting engagement with Hines.
