Ben Williams

Jazz bassist Ben Williams is a forward-thinking musician who all crosses easily between straight-ahead, funk, and gospel-influenced jazz. A indigenous of Washington, D.C., Williams graduated in the Duke Ellington College of Music before learning with renowned bassist Rodney Whitaker while gaining a B.A. in jazz research at Michigan Condition University. He’s an in-demand sideman and provides performed using a veritable who’s who of jazz, including Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Mulgrew Miller, Terence Blanchard, among others. Williams can be a regular person in Stefon Harris’ hip-hop-influenced Blackout ensemble and network marketing leads his very own group. In ’09 2009 Williams gained the esteemed Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition and eventually signed a documenting cope with Concord Information. Two years afterwards, he released his debut single album, Condition of Artwork. In 2015, Williams shipped his sophomore full-length record, Coming old, which highlighted a ’70s fusion and R&B impact and included visitor performances from trumpeter Christian Scott and vocalist Goapele.
