Altazor

Produced in 1987, this ground-breaking Latin American ensemble combines the multi-national talents of Chilean Lichi Fuentes, Venezuelan Jackeline Rago, Cuban Dulce Arguelles, and Asian-American Vanessa Whang. The group’s name originates from the Spanish “alta” (high) and “azor” (hawk), phrases which recommend the soaring vocal harmonies from the singers aswell as the high-flying heart with that your group’s haunting, passsionate music is established. When executing its repertoire of traditional Latin American vocal and instrumental agreements combined with the even more socially-conscious lyrics of New Tune, Altazor employs an extraordinary range of musical instruments which includes the quena, tiple, tres, and charango, combined with the even more familiar flute, mandolin, electric guitar, and piano.
