Marylanders

Baltimore-based R&B group the Marylanders shaped in 1945 — in accordance to Marv Goldberg’s profile in the Sept 1977 problem of Yesterday’s Memories — founders Lewis “Buster” Banking institutions (lead tenor), Johnny Paige (second tenor), David Jones (baritone), and Henry Abrams (bass) initially pursued a profession in gospel, but crossed to secular music a couple of years later. With the help of WSID radio character Expenses Franklin, the Marylanders authorized to NY City-based Jubilee Information in early 1952 — also house to Baltimore R&B feeling the Orioles. The label combined the fledgling group with songwriters Expenses Robertson and Homer Murray, most widely known for their cooperation using the Magictones.
