Adrian Leaper

Adrian Leaper is really a conductor internationally known even more through recordings than personal performances, although his career has taken him throughout Europe. Leaper provides produced about 100 CDs, mainly of large-scale intimate music and United kingdom light classics, mostly for the Naxos/Marco Polo and ASV brands. The United kingdom musician studied on the Royal Academy of Music and offered several periods as co-principal horn within the Philharmonia Orchestra before switching solely to performing. In 1986, via worldwide competition, Leaper was chosen as helper conductor from the Hallé Orchestra, a post he kept for five years. It had been during this time period that he started recording, initially generally with Czech and Slovakian orchestras, for Naxos. Upon the expiration of his Hallé agreement, Leaper entered an interval of extensive visitor conducting, producing the rounds of Western european radio and provincial orchestras, along with the leading orchestras of London. In 1994 he became movie director from the Orquesta Filharmónia de Gran Canaria, a posture he kept for seven years. With this ensemble, Leaper became interested in Spanish repertory and produced some 40 recordings. In Sept 2001 he shifted his activity towards the RTVE Symphony Orchestra in Madrid, which he’s music movie director. Leaper’s Nielsen symphony routine on Naxos was generally well-received within the middle-’90s, and his recordings frequently find favour with critics because of their feeling of musical structures as well as for Leaper’s capability to make supplementary orchestras play well. Alternatively, Leaper may also be faulted, though not really generally by reserved United kingdom critics, for relatively staid readings of passionate music by famous brands Tchaikovsky, Mahler, and Sibelius.
