Though their band, Standing Nudes, split up in 2007, musicians and friends Jason Klauber and Molly Shea knew they wished to continue producing music together. Both — who’d known one another since their period at Oberlin University, where they fulfilled after a shared friend played a few of Shea’s tunes to Klauber and created the first construction of Standing up Nudes — made a decision to consider things inside a different path than what they’d previously carried out. Drawing motivation from Fleetwood Mac pc, Gram Parsons, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, amongst others, and phoning themselves Acrylics, the set set out composing tunes from this period of pop music. Their 1st recordings were manufactured in Klauber’s cellar, also house to roommate Patrick Wimberly’s (from Chairlift) studio room. Eventually, three even more users (Travis Rosenberg on drums, Jake Aron on bass, and Sam Ubl on drums) had been added, as well as the five-piece music group began playing displays on its Brooklyn house turf. At among these displays (and their second ever), Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor contacted them and asked if they’d prefer to launch music on his nascent label, Terrible Information. After generating their tunes at Taylor’s studios, Acrylics released the EP All the Fire in Oct 2009, around once that they performed a small number of well-publicized displays at New York’s CMJ Event. The pair done their debut recording during the period of 2 yrs with suppliers Patrick Wimberly (Chairlift), Matt Boynton (Gang Gang Dance, MGMT), Britt Myers (Yeasayer, Chairlift), and learning engineer Chris Gehringer (Rihanna, Drake, Nas). The effect, Lives and Treasure, found its way to 2011.
