Acáma Fick

Acáma Fick continues to be an influential drive in the pass on from the classical chorale custom in South Africa. The founder and conductor from the Stellensbosch Camarata, a 40-member blended choir, since 1992, Fick proceeds to promote the energy of multi-part harmonizing in her homeland. Fick’s passions in music had been originally sharpened while participating in the Afrikaans Young ladies’ SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Pretoria, where she attained a five-year higher conservatoire diploma. She continuing her education on the School of Stellenbosch, where she gained a master’s level in music. While their studies at the School, Fick offered as choral movie director from the Bloemhof Young ladies’ SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Choir. One of the better high-school choirs in South Africa, the group gained the SABC’s Country wide Choir Competition for Great Academic institutions in 1971. Pursuing her graduate research, Fick continuing post-graduate studies on the School and became a member of the school choir beneath the path of Philip McLachlan. Fick was appointed a lecturer at the institution and continues to instruct classes in music and musicology. In 1978, Fick founded the Conservatoire Women’s Choir at the institution, teaching untrained performers in the artwork of choral performing, before group disbanded in 1982. In 1985, Fick became the first girl to become appointed conductor from the College or university of Stellenbosch Choir. Under her path, the group became internationally known and toured throughout European countries in 1991. Fick continuing to immediate the choir until Apr 1993. Fick acts for the advisory panel from the South African Choral Culture.
