A Storm of Light

NY City’s A Surprise of Light was founded by vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Josh Graham — a former person in the respected post-rock clothing, Crimson Sparowes, participant in the acclaimed Fight of Mice, and a longtime visible artist in home with the renowned Neurosis. It had been therefore never astonishing when Graham and his bandmates, bassist Domenic Seita and drummers Vinnie Signorelli (of Unsane/Swans popularity) and Pete Angevice (Satanized) explored very similar realms of expansive, atmospheric, mildly commercial post-metal on the Surprise of Light’s 2008 debut for Neurot Recordings, And We Wept the Dark Sea Within. A divide discharge with Canadians Nadja, entitled Primitive North, shortly implemented, and 2009 noticed the release of the Surprise of Light’s second full-length, Forgive Us Our Trespasses, offering brand-new drummer Andy Grain, previously of Sinking Boats.
