Herbert Brewer

Brewer held positions mainly because organist in Gloucester churches while still an adolescent. He later on received the 1st open organ scholarship or grant in the RCM in London, and a scholarship or grant to Exeter University, Oxford. He was granted music levels from Dublin and Lambeth. Brewer offered as organist at St. Michael’s Chapel, Coventry, Tonbridge College and Gloucester Cathedral. He was the movie director from the Three Choirs Event at Gloucester and founded the Gloucester Orchestral Culture. A diligent composer, he published both secular and well-known works which range from tunes to cantatas. Brewer was knighted in 1926.
