Moondog

In the planting season of 1989, between your time he still left Gorilla Biscuits and began Quicksand, guitarist Walter Schreifels began the short-lived NY hardcore act Moondog, named to get a favorite (but also short-lived) local vegetarian hot dog stand. Fundamentally, now that he previously graduated from senior high school, Schreifels wished to sing to get a band and reveal new experiences apart from just the standard picture topics he had written about for Gorilla Biscuits. He previously laid down some vocal demos for the Biscuits record Begin Today as helpful information for his bandmates, given that they had been still concluding documenting when he remaining for any spell in 1988 to tour European countries with Youngsters of Today. Schreifels was influenced by how great it experienced to really sing what he had created; further motivated by close friends who had noticed the demonstration, he decided enough time was to begin something privately. Therefore, he quickly published some tunes and strike the studio, managing the vocal, acoustic guitar, and bass parts himself, while fellow Biscuit Luke Abbey performed drums. Moondog added the track “Manifestation” to an area compilation, Take a look at All the Kids Now, as the duo met up some friends for any display. With Schreifels on vocals and Abbey right now on bass, they recruited guitarist Tom Capone, drummer Armand Majidi (of Fed up with It All popularity), and second guitarist Howie to rounded Moondog out for his or her first (in support of) gig at CBGB’s. But once everyone began playing collectively, Schreifels made the decision he didn’t just like the name Moondog, therefore birthing Quicksand. The lineup (and sound) transformed for Quicksand aswell, Schreifels and Capone eventually being finished by drummer Alan Cage and bassist Sergio Vega. Therefore, the seven-song Moondog demonstration was never correctly released (though it had been sufficiently bootlegged) until Schreifels offered Anthology Recordings authorization in nov 2006 to finally concern the tunes digitally.
