West Five

Originally a quartet referred to as Western Four, this five-piece was signed to HMV in 1965 and debuted using a cover from the Mick Jagger-Keith Richards song “Congratulations,” which didn’t chart. Their audio was a trim, somewhat bluesy pop-rock, intensely guitar-oriented and beautifully stripped down, but with out a charismatic business lead singer, they never really had a potential for finding a broad audience or obtaining critical air-play. They do small better with two follow-up singles, and vanished after the middle-1960’s, although “Great job” has received found for reissue on Compact disc.
