Mazes

The Chicago trio Mazes began like a side project for just two members from the chamber pop group the 1900s. Edward Anderson, who acts as main songwriter and vocalist in the 1900s, and vocalist Caroline Donovan teamed with painter/musician Charles D’Autremont to create the group in 2004. As opposed to the 1900s’ wealthy and tightly organized sound, Mazes have a even more relaxed and instant method of the composing and documenting process, to the idea of sometimes composing and documenting a song in a single daylong session. Combined with the traditional pop and rock and roll within their primary group’s function, with Mazes there’s also even more folk and nation affects that creep in to the audio. The outcomes of their four many years of documenting in bedrooms, flats, and studios could be heard on the 2009 self-titled debut record for Parasol.
