Created by Englishman Les Humphries in Berlin in the first ’70s, the Les Humphries Singers performed a variety of gospel, R&B, pop, and rock and roll that had not been dissimilar to the task that could make Boney M Western superstars. The group’s biggest strikes had been the singles “Mexico” and “Mama Loo,” released in 1972 and 1973 respectively. The ensemble also displayed Germany in the 1976 Eurovision Track Competition, but was to split up immediately after. A reunion happened in 1991, but just lasted a year or two. 2006 would observe lots of the initial users — sans Les Humphries — come back as the initial Performers. Other members from the Les Humphries Performers also continued to success within their personal correct, with Liz Mitchell heading on to front side Boney M, and John Lawton obtaining a house as the frontman for Uriah Heep. Humphries himself passed on in Dec of 2007.
