Jeff Gardner

Jazz pianist and composer Jeff Gardner was created in NEW YORK in 1953; classically qualified from age five, he relocated to Paris in 1977 to review under Nadia Boulanger, and continued to be in France for another two decades. Throughout that period Gardner’s desire for global music led him on excursions to Brazil, Cuba, Madagascar and North Africa; concurrently he documented and toured with famous brands Kenny Wheeler, Steve Lacy, Freddie Hubbard and Eddie Harris, and in 1985 became a member of Jaki Byard, Martial Solal and Paul Bley inside a piano quartet at Le Havre. Within the wake of 1996’s Second House, Gardner released the publication Jazz Piano: Innovative Concepts & Methods, and in 1997 came back to NY on a long term basis. The Music of Opportunity: Jeff Gardner Takes on Paul Auster adopted in 2000.
