Wilhelm Kuhe

Kuhe was a pianist, piano composer and instructor who studied in Prague with Proksch and Tomasek and in addition had a few lessons from Thalberg. Being a concert pianist he was quite effective choosing to stay in London where he not merely taught on the Royal Acadmey of Music but also provided annual concerts. He was energetic in Brighton commissioning and executing many new functions. Kuhe ‘s compositions included “Lieder ohne Worte, opus 12,” “Le Carillon, opus 13,” “Love sans paroles, opus 17,” and “Le feu follet, opus 38.” He also constructed variations for the United kingdom nationwide anthem as well as the Austrian nationwide anthem. Kuhe had written “My Musical Recollections” (1896) where he discussed the countless music artists with whom he interacted in a single way or another. Professions of a few of these people lasted well in to the mid-twentieth hundred years. Among those whom he fulfilled had been Jenny Lind, Tomasek, Liszt, Rossini, Bulow, Chopin, Berlioz and Rubenstein.
