Using a heavier, more rockist sound compared to the post-rock groups that also call Chicago home, Wax on Radio — a quartet through the northern city suburbs of Schaumburg and Lake Forest — non-etheless possess a similarly oblique, progressive element with their sound, blending the sonic explorations of folks like Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai and Godspeed You Black Emperor! with a far more concise indie rock and roll base. Polish on Radio shaped in 2004, using a lineup comprising vocalist Mikey Russell, guitarist Bob Buckstaff, bassist Harrison Taylor and drummer Sammy Del Genuine. In 2006, Polish on Radio agreed upon to Downtown Information, the Warner Brothers-distributed quasi-indie that also grips Gnarls Barkley, Artwork Brut as well as the Eagles of Loss of life Steel. Their debut record, Exposition, premiered in nov 2006.
