Those Bastard Souls

Originally a side project for the Grifters’ Dave Shouse, Those Bastard Souls formed in 1996 using the release of Twentieth Century Chemical substance. The record was fundamentally a Shouse single project, however when he was contacted by Sebadoh with an starting i’m all over this their tour, he linked to the Dambuilders’ Joan Wasser and previous Red Red Meats bassist Matt Areas to flesh out the Souls for the street. As Wasser’s and Shouse’s primary groups split up (regarding the Dambuilders) or continued hiatus (regarding the Grifters), Those Bastard Souls progressed right into a full-fledged music group. The initial trio added another ex-Dambuilder, drummer Kevin March, and previous Jeff Buckley guitarist Michael Tighe towards the lineup for the documenting of the V2 debut, 1999’s Debts & Departure.
