Boasting an arsenal of bright guitar hooks and four-part harmonies, the Brooklyn-based XYZ Affair produced waves in 2006 using the independent discharge of SOME MORE Published Research. The music group had shaped five years prior as the single task of vocalist/guitarist Alex Feder, who afterwards extended the group by adding many NYU classmates. Russ Maschmeyer (keyboards, electric guitar), Sam Rockwell (drums), and Chris Bonner (bass) all climbed aboard, and XYZ Affair started crafting restricted power pop tracks in the custom of Big Superstar and Weezer. Greeted with a lackluster reception from New York’s indie circles, the music group targeted a wider viewers with its initial music video, which highlighted cameos from many former Nickelodeon superstars. The video was a viral achievement, pairing XYZ Affair’s smart songcraft with a tale line involving people of Increase Dare, The Escapades of Pete & Pete, Salute Your Pants, and Clarissa Points out It All. Using their Internet reputation developing, XYZ Affair continuing playing local displays — this time around to much bigger audiences — to get their self-released debut record. Another documenting, the three-song Studies EP, found its way to 2008, accompanied by the departure of drummer Rockwell in January 2009.
