The Unicorns

Just one more promising Canadian indie rock-band, Montreal-via-British Columbia’s Unicorns began in the later ’90s, when high-school friends Nick (Neil) Diamond jewelry and Alden Ginger began crafting their roundabout, lo-fi, but distinctly catchy music. Cheap keyboards, noisy guitars, and true and mechanised drums surround the duo’s skewed and frequently religious lyrics, and their concert events can also consist of films, puppet displays, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The Unicorns’ Alien8 debut record, Unicorns Are People As well, found its way to early 2003 and strike number 29 over the Canadian graphs; that summer months, they added Guelph indigenous Jaime Thompson (aka J’aime Tambour) as their long lasting drummer because of their tour with labelmates Soft Canyon. Their second record, WHO’LL Cut Our Locks When We’re Eliminated?, premiered that fall, and their wintertime 2003 tour with Sizzling hot Hot High temperature — with their prior gigs helping the Microphones, Daniel Johnston, the Walkmen, and Kitty Power, amongst others — produced them being among the most hotly tipped indie rings of the entire year.
