The Luyas

Experimental Canadian indie rock ensemble the Luyas make arty, atmospheric pop. Produced in Quebec in 2006, the music group centers around business lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jessie Stein and in addition features keyboardist/French horn participant Pietro Amato, drummer Stefan Schneider, and organist Mathieu Charbonneau. The music group self-released an EP in 2008 and implemented it using the full-length Faker Loss of life in ’09 2009. The Luyas after that signed to Deceased Oceans and released the record Too Gorgeous to Function in Feb of 2011. In January of 2012, Schneider still left the music group and was changed by former Property of Chat drummer Tag Wheaton. Shortly soon after, the band started focus on their third record, Animator, which noticed release on Inactive Oceans in nov 2012. The record was heavily influenced by the loss of life of a good friend from the band’s on the onset of documenting. Using the lineup of Stein, Amato, both Wheaton and Schneider, and guitarist Michael Feuerstack, they implemented it using a mainly improvised EP known as Says You in 2016. It previewed their initial full-length in almost five years, 2017’s Individual Voicing, that was also rooted in improvisation and made by Jace Lasek of Besnard Lakes.
