The Casa Latina All-Stars

The excitement of New York’s salsa scene continues to be imported to Britain from the Leeds-based, ten-piece group Casa Latina All-Stars. Without member more than 30 yrs . old, the group brings a fresh method of their music, infusing intensifying “salsa moderna” with funk, jazz, and Cuban-style rap. Directed by conga participant Sam Bell, a citizen musician on the North School of Modern Dance, the Casa Latina All-Stars was produced by ex-members of United kingdom salsa music group Pa’llante. Accompanists for New York-based boogaloo ruler Pucho and Cuban vocalist Pichi Valdez, in 1996, the group released the debut one “A lot of Bongos” on United kingdom jazz label Yardbird Collection Records the next calendar year. The Casa Latina All-Stars continue steadily to perform frequently at Leeds nightspot Casa Latino.
