The Canton Spirituals

An award-winning gospel group away of Canton, Mississippi who pioneered mixing traditional gospel with contemporary R&B and metropolitan elements, the Canton Spirituals were shaped in 1943 by Harvey Watkins, Sr., along with Reverend I.S. Watkins, Claude “Bubba” Nichols, Warren G. Ward, Isaac Bolton, Eddie Jackson, Theo Thompson, and Roscoe Lucious. Following a senior Watkins’ loss of life in 1994, the group continues to be led by his child, Harvey Watkins, Jr. The group released some 20 albums between 1978 and 2013, and also have also gained Stellar, Dove, Spirit Train, GMWA Superiority, and Urban Network Honours on the way for their efforts to contemporary and modern gospel.
