Stanley Adams

b. 14 August 1907, NEW YORK, NY, USA, d. 27 January 1994, Manhasset, NY, USA. The lyricist for a comparatively modest amount of songs within the 30s and 40s, Adams went to New York College or university and subsequently researched law before taking on songwriting. He added some lyrics to different revues before having his ‘I’ll Betcha I’ll Getcha’ and ‘Hiya, Sucker’ (both with Jesse Greer) contained in the 1933 Broadway musical humor Shady Lady. Afterwards in the 10 years, he collaborated thoroughly with Hoagy Carmichael, and something of the most appealing amounts, ‘Little Old Female’, is at the 1936 Beatrice Lillie – Bert Lahr revue, The Present Can be On. Adams’ various other credits for this period included ‘In The Dim Dim Dawning’ (with Al Goodhart- Al Hoffman), the British phrases to Cugat’s theme tune, ‘My Shawl’ (music: Xavier Cugat), British phrases to ‘Cuando Vuela A Tu Lado’ (‘What A Diff’rence PER DAY Produced’) (music: Maria Grever), that was popular for Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey in 1934, and ‘Wacky Dirt’, a novelty item popularized with the Chick Webb Orchestra, with Ella Fitzgerald on vocal. In 1940, ‘Yesterthoughts’, with an Adams lyric, modified from a Victor Herbert instrumental structure of the same name, and originally released in 1900, moved into the US Strike Parade within a edition by Glenn Miller’s civilian music group. Adams also had written songs for movies, and one of the very most popular of the was ‘Jubilee’ (Carmichael), which highlighted in Mae Western’s last film for Paramount, Every Day time’s ANY OCCASION (1938). Adams’ additional function included ‘Rollin’ Down the River’, ‘La Cucaracha’, ‘I Couldn’t Become Mean To You’, ‘Seein’ Is usually Believin’, ‘Sing Me A Golf swing Track’, ‘Consider It From Me’, ‘Shadows AROUND THE Fine sand’, ‘My Silent Feeling’ and ‘While You’re Away’ (1955). Among his additional collaborators were Fat Waller, Milton Ager and Louis Alter. Adams offered for a while as Chief executive of ASCAP.
