Spiritus Mortis

Purportedly Finland’s first doom metal band, Spiritus Mortis were formed in 1987 (originally beneath the name Rigor Mortis) simply by brothers Teemu and Jussi Maijala. But armed forces service and various other distractions led to over ten years of comparative inactivity for the group, and stuff only started warming up once again when vocalist Vesa Lampi became a member of in the entire year 2000. Longtime drummer VP Rapo also transferred over to electric guitar (aswell as keyboards and flutes) at the moment, making method for brand-new percussionist Jarkko “Sepi” Seppälä to comprehensive their current lineup in 2003. At that time, several demos have been recorded plus they fared quite nicely among tape investors and specialized periodicals, eventually resulting in a cope with Trend of Achilles Information. Merging slothful doom and speedier, traditional rock, Spiritus Mortis’ belated eponymous debut record was finally released in January 2004.
