Speak in Tones

Formed in the beginning of the 00s in NEW YORK by percussionist Daniel Moreno and saxophonist Mike Ellis, both of whom also create, the strap first obtained a reputation playing at underground venues. Term soon pass on and Speak In Shades performed in Salvador Perform Bahia, Brazil. The group includes 20 and much more instrumentalists and performers playing music that owes very much to Mali in addition to forms similar to Brazil but is usually imbued with components of post-bop jazz and modern improvised music. The devices used consist of trumpets, saxophones, flutes and guitars along with the traditional tambura, tabla, udu, pandeiro, marimbau, djembe and whistles. At musicians who’ve played within the music group are trumpeters Jerry González and Graham Haynes, saxophonist Antoine Roney, flutist Bira Reiss, key pad players Luizao Paiva and Cheick Tidiane Seck, guitarists Jean-Paul Bourelly, Munir al Hassan and Durval Leylis, bass players Darryl Hall and Reggie Washington, percussionists Dende, Terreon Gully, Peu Meurray, Adam Rudolph, Sabia, and Anderson Souza, balfone participant Lasine Kouyate, and cuica participant Martihno perform Cuica.
